firstly i want to thank you for your disk cleaner, its great.
im using XP pro and firefox 3.5.3 (classic compact theme) and this new beta deletes the little avatar's for each site saved in bookmarks. this did not happen with the past release so i think its a bug or at least a function not needed.
does anybody else have this problem, i believe its either in the 'firefox cache' or 'firefox history' parts that are cleaned.

Well, first of all, you're very welcome.
About that 'feature', I didn't put that in there on purpose. It might be something that has changed from firefox 3 to 3.5. Could you please find out whether it's the history or cache part? And what version of Disk Cleaner do you use?
Thanks for the report!

ok ive done some checking, tested cleaning each one on there own- its the 'firefox history' clean that kills the avatars, it does not kill them forever - when you visit the site bookmarked the little pic loads and saves again untill you run the cleaner.
Disk Cleaner version 1.6.1273 (RC2) thats the version i used.
btw, i know its only a little thing but the design and layout of the old version was alot more user friendly, i know these little touch ups are normally done once the actual application is finished, i just hope you spice it up a bit, bit of colour :p to make it more attractive to the mainstream

if this is not happening to anyone else i can only think that it must be becuase im using a custom theme for my firefox and disk cleaner is cleaning that ?
Offline
having said that it does not affect my customization of the custom theme so it cant be.......
mystery continues

I'm not saying it doesn't happen to others or me, but I've never noticed it
I'll investigate this further, thank you for your trouble.
And about the looks, well, the most often heard comment about the old version was that it should fit in with the theme of the operating system more instead of having this 'Windows 98' feel to it. I also feel that by today's standards, DIsk Ceaner 1.5.x looks a bit like a carnival. Therefore, Disk Cleaner now simply adapts to the OS' theme, and I must say that I like the more minimalistic look. I'm by no means a UI designer though.
I do intend to recreate the context menu's to quickly select all or none of the plug-ins, and add the possibility to translate the application.

damn, bet it looks nice on vista :p
looks black and white on xp, would look nice with a nice background purple colour gradient and a fancy bigger 'clean' button
i did a quick impression....
ok it dont have to be purple and my attempt at making the top look darker than the bottom in a gradient didnt come off but it was only a mess about on paint.net, its just the apps logo is purple so i went with that, maybe you could make a custom theme so those vista people can keep there aero style and us xp can have a nice bit of colour around the sides.
i bigger clean button would be nice cos i keep going to hit the exit button :p

If you don't change the selection of plug-ins, pressing the enter key should do for immediate cleaning
But may I suggest to post any further discussion in the feature requests forum? That way I can keep the bugs separated from the requests.
Thanks!

Hi...
Excuse my english, i'm french...
I like very much DCleaner since lot of years. The new version looks like very good but this problem...
I have the same problem in firefox 3.5.3 with Windows XP SP3 and Disk Cleaner version 1.6.1273 (RC2) :
If I valid "Firefox History" and launch DCLeaner, I lost miniatures of bookmarks.
I use "Vista-Aero" theme and "Smart Bookmarks Bar" Plugin in Firefox 3.5.3 and after DCleaning "Smart Bookmarks Bar" works no more ! I must reinstall it.
Have a good day.

same here for favicone.
and I lost ALL bookmark on firefox if firefox is already clean before

Yes, indeed. Unfortunately bookmarks and history are stored in one file now. I'll update DC asap to at least leave alone this particular file. That will prevent more unwanted side-effects. I'll probably will implement something with less of a sledge-hammer like approach.
Thanks for the report, and your patience

Isnt that a Mozilla issue Robert? (To DC they look like TEMP FILES (which is wrong (DC is only doing what it is meant to do)))
Welcome to the site PosteMontage ![]()

Well, Mozilla is in no way obliged to keep things the way they were because of DC. It's just a pity that they chose to store real data in the same file as data that is considered to be of a temporary nature... ![]()

Ya i kinda figured that......
Like Adobe messed up FLASH PLAYER and now regseeker picks up the FLASH KEYS as being un-needed (in the reg) and it deletes them when you clean the reg....
When Macromedia still owned flash this didnt happen as the keys in the reg WERE ATTACHED TO SOMETHING so they werent detected as leading no where and thus UN-NEEDED.. (They didnt come up in a scan)
Why do people always mess GOOD things up?
